'25 Junior's Beach Training - Summer 2025

Bumpy Pickle Beach is offering a (12) week, summer beach volleyball training and conditioning program for junior girls & boys ages 10 & up. All practices are held weekly, at our facility May 30th through August 11th, 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Monday* evenings & 9:00am to 11:00am Friday* mornings.

A FREE, play-around & meet the coaches event will be Saturday May 24th from 6pm to 10pm. The whole family is welcome to come out and decide if this is something their player is interested in. (2) tournaments are also included, but participation is optional. These will be June 27th/28th and Aug 1st/2nd. +We are reserving two days to have some flexibility on exact date once we know total team count, or if we need to have two pools.

Training for 2 vs 2 beach volleyball has several benefits, the most obvious is the increased amount of plays you are involved in. Players will be touching and reacting to every other ball. This helps to round out an overall set of skills versus single position training, develops greater communication between teammates and requires players to execute both defensively and offensively. The uneven and varying traction provided by the sand means your lower body is getting a workout the entire time. Players returning to indoor after a summer of beach often say they feel better, stronger moving on indoor courts.

The total cost is $500** 

All participants will receive 2 logo'd tank tops that extend below waistline. Players will be responsible for remainder of their preferred clothing. Sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle (no glass), towel, visor or hats should be considered. The outdoor elements of beach volleyball can often be a huge factor for transitioning players. Be prepared.

*Available days of the week may increase/decrease based on total number of participants.

**Players will be required to bring a suitable beach volleyball to all practices. If you have one already, perfect, bring that! We prefer FIVB Official Beach Elite volleyball by Molten V5B5000, AVP OPTX or NCAA OPTX by Wilson. These are available through our checkout, or you can buy from your favorite retailer later. Old indoor balls are not suitable and are too light. If you aren't sure, please ask before spending money on a "bad" beach volleyball.

SUNDAY : ADVANCED *evenings - Spring II 2025

SUNDAY *evenings* ADVANCED  Co-ed 4 vs 4

This league is catered to the more experienced and competitive teams. All teams of this league will be able to pass, set, and spike on a consistent basis. All beach volleyball rules will be strictly enforced (including NO OPEN HAND RECEIVES ON SERVES, SHOULDERS MUST BE SQUARE WHEN HAND SETTING OVER THE NET, NO FINGER TIP REDIRECTS, NO CARRIES, and NO LIFTS). The hand sets in this division will be called tighter than in any other league at Bumpy Pickle Beach. Doubles and carries while setting will result in a point for the other team. The overall attitude in this division is to have some fun, but these teams are here to win! If you aren't sure, or haven't played w/ us before please email us prior to registration.

Each team will get at least 2 double headers this session.

TENTATIVE START DATE:  Sunday (6/1/25) 

*1st game MUST be underway by 6:10 or it will be forfeited to the ready team. Limit breaks between sets to 2 mins. max.

The league will be 6 weeks of pool play, and the final week(s) will be playoffs.
Time slots for these games are 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, (9:00* if & as needed)
Every team will play at least one time slot per week.
Each match will last 60 minutes.
All matches consist of 3 games, rally scoring (21,21,15)*cap at 23,23,17
Teams must have at least one female on the court at all times.
All games will be self-refereed and scored.

Playing in ADV league means you're counted as ADV for remainder of season.

No one is allowed to touch the net during play.
Subs are allowed during the regular season. Teams in need of sub during playoffs may use a previous sub from their regular season, or players from ELIMINATED teams. Do not use a player from a team who is available due to a BYE. NO new substitutes during playoffs.

The cost is $280 per team.

Co-ed 4x4 format w/ (1) woman per team minimum.

18 years old minimum age requirement.

Tournament starts out in pool play.

Playoff brackets will take top (14) teams into single elimination.

The amount of teams that sign up determines the number of games played and the point totals of each game. We will schedule as many games as times allows.

This will be a laid back tournament where the standard rules of beach volleyball are loosely enforced. However, these four rules will be called during play:

1) Any touching of the net.
2) You can not attack or block a serve.
3) If you hand set a ball over the net your shoulders should be square to the direction of the ball.
4) No open hand redirects over over the net. 

Games will be self refereed. Please remember that the ultimate goal of this tournament is for everyone to enjoy themselves, have a great time and raise money for a worthy cause!

Same GEN-2s - Spring II 2025

Same Gender Two's tournament on Saturday, May 31st.

You asked for it! Same gender twos for ALL player levels? If you're already in our ADV league, then you'll register in the ADV -but if you are some of the one's asking when do you get a turn, well this is it! We've added our "New to Twos" level for this tournament. Each division will share the courts but not face each other in pool or brackets.

The number of teams registered determine the size of the pools and the point totals of each game.

Standard 2 vs. 2 rules should be enforced. This includes no carries/lifts, square shoulders when hand setting the ball over the net, no finger tip redirects, and no open hand receives on serve. ADV levels should call all faults while our "New to Twos" players be allowed leniency. ADV players are encouraged to answer or explain simple calls, but please resist coaching or attempts explaining more complex judgement calls. N-T-T players want to have judgement-free fun too!

Splitting genders & divisions means limitations, the most popular registration will get priority.

We've cracked the formula for a guaranteed good time! Host a co-ed Recreational fours event WITH NO ADV PLAYERS allowed! Saturday, June 21st. This tournament is for the weekend warriors that want to come out and play against other fun teams that don't take things too seriously. It should be a good time for everyone. Games will start out in pool play, and all teams will make the playoffs!

Total TEAM COUNT determines the number of games played, and the point totals of each game. We always try to schedule as many games as time allows.

Per usual, this will be a laid back tournament with standard rules of beach volleyball politely enforced. However, these 4 rules will be strictly called during play:

1) Any touching of the net.

2) You can not attack or block a serve.

3) If you hand set a ball over the net, your shoulders should be square to the direction of the ball.

4) No fingertip redirects over the net. 

There will be NO ADVANCED PLAYERS allowed in this tournament, males or females. Remember, the goal of this tournament is for everyone to enjoy a little bit of summer and have a some fun. Play a little, party a little -or a lot. We won't tell.

Bumpy's Summer 3-Way - Summer I 2025

Bumpy's 2nd Summer Three-Way !

Summer is officially here and we're ready to have a party! Let's kick it off with an all day 3-WAY. This will follow Pickle's INT. restrictions meaning a team is allowed up to two ADV players, 1 male and 1 female -but ADVs cannot swing/spike, jump serve or block. It's important to have ground rules when participating in a 3-way so that everyone knows their role. Ask for the ADV Rules & Regs sheet if you're unsure.

Teams will compete in 3 versions of volleyball. Grass court, water volleyball and of course Beach!

Each team will get 1 game on grass, 1 in the water and the rest will be in the sand.

We want to have a full day of fun and ridiculousness with everyone, so please come prepared. Sunscreen, towels, tail-gating sized coolers (no glass) & lunches. We have a small grill available to share too. Don't forget shoes for the grass court - this ain't Wimbledon. We will do our best to make it nice but expect roughness. No bad attitudes or fun-ruiners please. 

Teams will be randomly divided into 3 pools and games will be played on the 3 various court types throughout the day. The bottom 3 teams may be dropped from bracket play if we're at max capacity. The remaining teams will play through single elimination bracket on sand until we have our Champions!
