BUMPY PICKLE BEACH LEAGUES

Bumpy Pickle Beach is the premier venue in the Fate/Royse City/Rockwall area for adult outdoor volleyball leagues. Our goals are to offer leagues for all skill levels and to maintain a friendly and positive atmosphere so everyone playing can just relax and have a good time. We want every one who steps in our sand to walk away with a great experience!

We have leagues on Sunday and every weeknight except Friday (that is $5 open play).

All leagues are 8 weeks long, with the first six weeks being pool play and the final two weeks being playoffs. Teams must advance to make the second week of playoffs. Our weeknight leagues always have time slots of 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00. Our Sunday league times will vary, but they will have three time slots as well. Every team will play at least one time slot a week, and are guaranteed at least two double headers a session.

Every time slot has 60 minutes to finish, and consist of one match. All matches consist of three rally scored games. The first two games are to 21 (with a cap at 23), and the last game is to 15 (with a cap at 17). All games will be self-refereed and self-scored, this includes the playoffs.

Our leagues are on beach time, so don’t be surprised if some of our games start a little late. There will be people in our leagues that have to work late, there will be highways shut down because of traffic, there will be car problems – life will happen. If the start of a game is delayed too long, we will throw random people on the court to get the games going, and those games will count.

We will always allow substitutions during the non-playoff part of the sessions. And the new teammate will be counted as an official sub from that point on. In special circumstances we will allow substitutes for playoffs, as long as the substitute is NOT a ringer! We have learned through our experiences that people will miss playoffs for a variety of reasons/issues, and we don’t feel it is fair to make a whole team forfeit because one person can't make the playoffs. Life happens and we understand that. So in that instance, our goal is to sub people into a playoff game as fairly as possible, and only when it is absolutely necessary.

You are allowed to bring your own food and drinks but please remember that we DO NOT allow glass or pets onto our courts or the surrounding areas.

If this sounds like something you are interested in, sign up now! If registration isn’t open, it shouldn’t be long before the next session begins. View our calendar to track the current session.

 LEAGUES OFFERED

We always do our best to match up teams with similar skill sets, this helps keep games close, competitive, and most important....fun! These are our leagues offered:

Recreational Four vs. Four Leagues

This league is catered towards teams that don't take beach volleyball too seriously. These players are on the court to have some fun, while trying to improve their game. Most teams in this league will not have great success at passing and setting the ball, which means there will be a lot of one overs, and very few spikes. There will be no big hitters in this league! Also, the rules in this division will be loosely enforced. This is so people can play without worrying about nitpicky calls that are intended for a higher level of play . Who needs rules!?

Intermediate Four vs. Four Leagues

This league is catered towards teams that have experience in beach volleyball, but aren't quite ready to play against the more competitive teams. In this league you will face off against teams that have ball control, and whose goal is to pass, set, and spike on every volley. While playing with the intermediate crowd, you can expect some hard hits every once in a while, and you can also expect the rules to be called tighter than the recreational leagues. There will be NO OPEN HAND RECEIVES ON SERVE, NO FINGER TIP REDIRECTS, NO LIFTS, NO CARRIES, NO THROWs, and NO HAND SETS OVER THE NET WITHOUT YOUR SHOULDERS BEING SQUARED. This is still a fun league to play in, but these teams like winning.

Upper Intermediate Four vs. Four Leagues

This league is catered to the more experienced and competitive teams. All teams of this league will be able to pass, set, and spike on a consistent basis. The hand sets in this division will be called a little loose, leaving some room for error, but a rapidly spinning hand set will result in a point for the other team. All other beach volleyball rules will be strictly enforced (including NO OPEN HAND RECEIVES ON SERVES, SHOULDERS MUST BE SQUARE WHEN HAND SETTING OVER THE NET, NO FINGER TIP REDIRECTS, NO CARRIES, and NO LIFTS). The overall attitude in this division is to have some fun, but these teams show up to win games.

 Intermediate Two vs. Two Leagues

This league is for the intermediate players who want to give two vs two volleyball a shot. All the players in this league have some experience in the sand and will attempt a pass, set, and spike whenever possible. The hand sets in this division will be called a little loose, leaving some room for error. All other beach volleyball rules will be strictly enforced. This includes NO OPEN HAND RECEIVES, NO FINGER TIP REDIRECTS, NO THROWS, AND NO HAND SETTING OVER THE NET WITHOUT SHOULDERS BEING SQUARE. Most players in this league will not have a lot of two vs. two experience, but are serious about figuring it out.

Upper Intermediate Two vs. Two Leagues

This league is for the more competitive players of beach volleyball. Most of the players in this league have several years of experience in the sand and will be able to pass, set, and spike on a consistent basis. The hand sets in this division will be called a little loose, leaving some room for error, but a rapidly spinning hand set will result in a point for the other team. All other beach volleyball rules will be strictly enforced. The overall attitude in this division is to have some fun, but most of the players are in it, to win it.
